Each Halloween season, Buffalo High School Theater students hit the streets of downtown Buffalo to help local businesses during the community Trick-or-Treat event! For two hours, our cast and crew—dressed in spirited costumes—assist merchants by greeting families, handing out candy, and bringing Broadway-level enthusiasm to every doorstep. It’s a fun way for our students to engage with the community while sharing information about our fall musical.
Local shops can request student helpers by emailing Publicity@buffalotheater.org, or alternativley complete our signup form.
Space is limited and filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Families now have the opportunity to share support their support and pride in their children through ”Playbill Student Shout-Outs" to be printed in our Playbill.
"Student Shout-Outs" are available to any family member or friend of a student involved in our production. Our "Student Shout-Outs" will be 1/4 page in size and will feature a line of text, quote, or saying from the family or friends in addition to a photo of the student.
Due to space we must have a limit of one Student Shout-Out per student.
Producing a high-quality school theater production is an expensive endeavor — and unfortunately, ticket sales (which flow into school budgets) rarely cover the true costs.
For example, the rights for our most recent show cost over $3,000, just to obtain scripts and permission from the creators. Add to that the cost of costumes, lumber, paint, props, and technical equipment, and it’s easy to see how quickly expenses add up.
To help bridge that gap, we ask for a $50 contribution per show from each family with students involved. These funds are used to purchase concessions supplies in bulk, which we then use at various events throughout the season — helping us raise additional funds for future productions.
